(PRESS RELEASE) TEAM MOTT: SALLY MOTT DEMONSTRATES ON-TRACK GRIT AT FIRST OUT-OF-STATE REGIONAL PRO KART RACE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 22, 2021

Pro racing kart driver Sally Mott competed for the first time outside of Texas this past weekend, March 20-21, 2021 at the 1.1-mile NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana.  25 of the best kart drivers from Texas and the surrounding states entered the first regional round of 2021 promoted by the Texas Speed Racing Series (TSRS) in the LO206 class.

16 years old from Victoria, Texas, Sally Mott started the race weekend by showing immediate form in the morningpractice by posting the 7th best time of 1:13.850, .881 seconds off the session leader.  This event marked Sally’s first time competing at the NOLA track.

A sophomore at East Victoria High School, Sally qualified 17th with a fastest lap of 1:14.447, 1.637 seconds behind pole position as the field elevated its performance.  The entire 25-kart field was covered by 3.949 seconds.

In Saturday’s Heat 1 race, Sally jumped 5 positions to finish 12th posting her fastest race lap of 1:13.268, her personal best of the entire regional meeting.  The 10-lap race saw her finish 15.075 seconds behind the heat winner.

Sunday’s Heat 2 race resulted in Sally crossing the finish line in 17th after being the victim of a first-lap multi-kart pile up.

Sally’s reaction to the unfortunate wrecking: “I was able to drive away unlike the few drivers that got punted into the dirt. However, it put me in P20 with a huge gap to the next driver.  So, I did my best to put my head down and make as many passes as possible.” Sally bounced back strong in the 18-lap Main race, climbing to the 11th spot – her highest finish for the weekend – with a best lap of 1:13.625.

Sally on her experience of racing outside of Texas for the first time: “I love going to new tracks and places – especially the culture of Louisiana and how they run the karting show.”

As she grows her skills and piles up impressive results and points totals, Sally remains outspoken and isn’t shy about sharing her opinions: “The race craft of the drives, especially in the LO206 class, was horrible. It was as if they were driving with their helmets on backwards.  People are constantly being bashed and punted off track.  Other than that, I had a ton of fun and learned a lot!

“I love racing with what feels like a traveling family/circus.”

Sally’s racing calendar has her scheduled to compete in the next round of the Greater Houston Racing Series to be held April 11th at Gulf Coast Racing facility in Katy, Texas.  In 2020 as a rookie, Sally finished 2nd in overall points in the series that determines the city champion of the Houston area.
