Houston’s Mayor On Race, Roads And Gay Rights

(Cliff Owen/AP)

Houston Mayor Annise Parker participates in the Sixth Annual Washington Ideas Forum in Washington, Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker is wrapping up her third and final two-year term. She’s the city’s second female mayor and first openly gay mayor. In fact, Houston is the largest city in America to elect an openly gay mayor.

There are many questions about what Annise Parker plans to do next, and about the challenges a city like Houston faces, as it continues to grow faster than any other city in the U.S. Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson sat down with the ………. read more here.

84th Legislature Hall of Shame

Today, the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) released their Democrat Hall of Shame for the 84th Legislature. While many more dastardly Democrats could have qualified, these six liberal Democrats stood out due to their egregious actions during the last legislative session.

“It’s disappointing that these Democrats expended so much energy this session working against the values of Texans,” said RPT Chairman Tom Mechler. “From fighting to continue to fund disgraced Austin DA Rosemary Lehmberg, to attempting to undo landmark pro-life legislation that was passed by Republicans, this group embarrassed not only themselves, but also the entire ……….. read more here.

RERop-ed: UT Ministry Of Truth

On Tuesday, three historic statues on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin were desecrated by a vandal or vandals unknown, who red-spray painted “black lives matter” on the pedestals of the statues.

Unbelievably, UT-Austin President Greg Fenves, instead of hunting the vandals down and expelling them, has formed an exploratory task force to study the feasibility of removing the statues!  Has the University of Texas lost its collective mind?

Why would you even think of removing the statues, President Fenves?  That’s letting the bastards win!  Has academic integrity at the University of Texas reached the low ebb where history cannot be taught if it offends someone?

UT Law Professor and Vice President of Diversity Gregory Vincent, who has been chosen by President Fenves to chair this task force, told the press, “This is a passionate issue.  It strikes at the core of what does history mean, and what does it mean today to live in a diverse society.”

News flash for Professor Vincent.  “Diversity” means acceptance of all views.  It implies inclusiveness, not divisiveness.  Diversity is not a license to suppress certain views in the name of tolerance for a gang of bigots.  And make no mistake: the effort to rewrite Southern history is motivated by bigotry – bigotry against affluence, bigotry against wealth creation, and bigotry against personal achievement.

But bigotry, no matter how fervent, can never eradicate the achievements of men like Jefferson Davis and Robert E Lee – unless we allow it to.

I do agree with Professor Vincent when he says, “This is a passionate issue,” but not, I suspect, in the same way that Professor Vincent meant it.  Professor Vincent, who is Black, is conceding to racial pimps like Al Sharpton, who are still pandering the outdated and discredited narrative of White supremacy.

But this issue – the University of Texas threatening to suppress the history of the United States and of Texas – should arouse the passions of every Texan.  Universities have a responsibility to preserve the truth, and they must nurture a deeply held aversion to suppressing the truth.  And as Texans, we have a right to expect our University to lead the nation – and the world – in exemplifying that precept.

If the university of Texas has morphed into the Texas branch of George Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth,” we as Texans must feel passionately compelled to make some changes at theUniversity of Texas!

I further agree with Professor Vincent when he says this issue “strikes at the core of what history means.”  History is the record of the past, and it must be preserved if we wish to preserve independent thinking and our independent activity.  As my Daddy used to say, “Everything we know has already happened.”  To distort that knowledge is to distort our understanding of the universe – and our understanding of ourselves.

Jefferson Davis was President of the Confederate States of America, Robert E. Lee was General of the Army of Northern Virginia, and Albert Sidney Johnson was General of theRepublic of Texas Army and served as Secretary of War under Republic of Texas President Mirabeau Lamar.  These are historical facts.  They cannot be erased with red spray paint. Nor should we allow them to be.

Former Mayor Castro calls for name change of Lee High School

Alumni, as well as the Northeast Independent School District, say they are standing by the name of Robert E. Lee High School.

Opponents believe keeping the name only condones slavery and racism.

When it comes to renaming the decades-old high school, emotions run high.

“They need to rename it,” said San Antonian Mark Dandridge. “Get rid of all that Confederate stuff.”

Former San Antonio Mayor and HUD Secretary Julian Castro believes ……….. read more here.

Bandidos’ attorney: Police account of Twin Peaks shooting ‘false,’ ‘damaging’

Photo: wacotrib.com

The Bandidos Motorcycle Club released a statement Monday responding to police and other accounts of the May 17 shootout at Twin Peaks that killed nine people, injured another 20 and landed 177 people in jail.

Las Vegas attorney Stephen Stubbs, who said he is representing the national club solely for the purpose of constructing and distributing the release, called the violence “senseless, completely unnecessary and wrong.”

Stubbs described statements made by the Waco Police Department as “untrue,” citing the list of weapons, which now totals 488 and could still increase, as misleadingly high.

Police have said the list of weapons found on the scene includes 151 firearms — 12 of which were long guns — knives, brass knuckles, batons, tomahawks, weighted weapons, a …….. read more here.

The Brief: Texas Voters Split on Gay Marriage

During the Defense of Texas Marriage Amendment Rally on Mar. 23, 2015 at the Texas Capitol, a protester raises questions of marriage sanctity noting celebrities who’ve been married multiple times.

The Big Conversation

With an imminent U.S. Supreme Court decision on the issue, Texas voters are split on whether gay marriages should be legal.

The latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll finds neither side of the issue got a majority of support from Texas voters, and 14 percent of voters said they were unsure which side they want Supreme Court justices to back.

And as the Tribune’s Ross Ramsey reports, age is a crucial determinant of …… read more here.

Texas Mayor, Citing Superman, Defends ‘Jesus Welcomes You’ Sign

Will Rogers, an East Texas mayor, is defending the presence of an 18-foot city sign which reads “Jesus Welcomes You To Hawkins,” in part by arguing that Jesus is no different than Superman, Talking Points Memo reported.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) requested the sign be removed from city property after a concerned local citizen informed the foundation of its presence.

But according to KETK, the mayor told a …… read more here.

Tea party finds more hell than heaven in Texas

Rep. David Simpson, R-Longview. right, stands with Rep. Joe Pickett, D-El Paso, left, as a transportation funding bill is debates in Austin , Texas.

Texas can sometimes feel like tea party heaven — the land of Ted Cruz, where the Legislature is packed with hard-right devotees and the governor himself heeds fringe fears about possible federal plots to seize the state.

But with so much power comes pressure, and the Texas Legislature’s tea party leaders are struggling to deliver on their most conservative promises. After the legislative session that ended this ……. read more here.

Texas Allows Same-Sex Divorce (But Not Same-Sex Marriage)

Photo: Patsy Lynch/Rex USA

As the United States Supreme Court moves closer to making its long-awaited ruling on marriage equality, the state of Texas has decided to recognize same-sex divorce.

On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision to grant a divorce to a lesbian couple who had legally married out of state, Reuters reports. The couple, Angelique Naylor and Sabina Daly, wed in Massachusetts in 2004 and five years later, in 2009, were legally divorced by an Austin judge. But as the Lone Star State has a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, then Attorney General (and now Governor) Greg Abbott filed a motion to stop the legal separation, on the grounds that “since same-sex marriage is banned under the state’s constitution, same-sex divorces cannot be granted by state courts.”

The couple, who had been waiting four years for this decision, were essentially ………. read more here.

RERop-ed: Arabic In Houston

Photo: freedompost.org

Starting this fall, 130 Houston Kindergarten students will begin indoctrination in speaking and writing the Arabic language.  HISD (Houston Independent School District) is introducing an Arabic Immersion Magnet School near the Houston Heights.  But why would anyone want to learn Arabic?  And more importantly, why would someone want to teach our kids Arabic?

There is virtually no scientific literature in Arabic.  Only two Arabic-speakers have ever won a Nobel prize in the Sciences, Egyptian Ahmed Zewail in 1999 for Chemistry, and Pakistani Mohammad Salam for Physics in 1979.  Salam was an Amahdiyya Muslim, a sect that the Pakistani Parliament had declared by constitutional amendment to be non-Muslims for their non-compliance with the rigid rules of Islam.

Before Islam, the Arabs were at the forefront of technological development.  They were the first to refine al cohol, but modern Sharia forbids the use of alcohol by Muslims even in perfumes.  And the Arabs invented al gebra, but now algebra is considered to be a demonic Western influence.  Indeed, anything that does not conform to the Koran and adhere to Sharia is considered evil in the Arabic speaking world, including science and mathematics.

The only thing taught in a madrasah is the Koran.  Modern literature as we know it is virtually nonexistent in the Arabic speaking world.  The culture that produced theRubaiyat and the Thousand And One Nights has prostituted its literary talents to the quasi-religion of Islam, and any author who strays beyond the Imam-prescribed borders of Islamic propriety will find himself imprisoned for blasphemy.

In other words, Arabic is a language used almost exclusively for the conduct and dissemination of Islam.  And there is only one reason to teach our children Arabic – to inculcate them with the poison of Islam.

Kate Adams, the principal of the new Arabic immersion school, defends the teaching of Arabic as a means of “developing a global mindset.”  But since the overwhelming majority of Arabic-speakers are Muslims, the “global mindset” of Arabic-speakers is global domination by Islam and subjugation of the world’s population to Sharia.  And I don’t think that’s what we should be teaching our children!

Sharia is a barbaric code that dictates mutilation and public flogging for petty crimes, stoning to death for adultery (which includes being the victim of rape), decapitation for apostasy, death for all infidels, and the total concealment of the female form.

That last one is really barbaric.

Since Sharia is the command of Allah for the guidance of his people, no Muslim would dare argue with this barbarity.  A further consideration is that to do so would, of course, subject the deviant to the prescribed punishment under Sharia.

And what is Islam?  Islam means “surrender” in Arabic.  It is the surrender of one’s will to the will of Allah.

Wow!  What a convenient copout!  If you have no will of your own, you have no culpability for your actions.  You can behead people and burn them alive and rape their women with impunity.  After all, it’s not you who are doing these things.  You are only the instrument of Allah, carrying out his will as revealed to Mohammed in the holy Koran:

“Fight against them until idolatry is no more and Allah’s religion reigns supreme” – Koran 8: 39

And again:

“Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off.” – Koran 5: 33

And again:

“When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you find them.” Koran 9:30

Our government, led by our Muslim President, along with his sycophantic Muslim Supremacist Media (MSM) promulgates a view of a bifurcated Islam, comprising radical Islam and moderate Islam.  But Islam is not bifurcated.  It is adamantly monolithic.

“Moderate” Islam is a bunch of maskirovka.  It is an oxymoron.  It does not exist outside the Perception Control (PC) campaign being waged by the international Islamic conspiracy.

So-called “moderate” Muslims are Muslims, and they are required by their belief to embrace the whole of the Koran, including the above and similar verses.  So-called “moderate” Muslims fully support – morally and financially – the so-called “radical” Muslims.  A “moderate” Muslim is simply a Muslim who hasn’t beheaded any infidels himself – yet.
