The sixth round of the Greater Houston Racing Series (GHRS) is to be held this Sunday, May 16, at Gulf Coast Karting circuit in Katy, Texas. Pro kart racing driver, Sally Mott, is looking to improve on her stunning April 11 debut in the KA100 Senior class.
The packed crowd of karting enthusiasts couldn’t keep their eyes off of Mott as she blistered the track during qualifying to be second in class. It was wheel-to-wheel action in the prefinal race as Mott finished third a mere 1.75 seconds behind first place. Then, in her first KA100 feature race, Mott barley missed the podium coming across the finish line fourth after 15 very combative laps.
Claver Kamau-Imani, Team Mott consultant and family friend:
“It was a remarkable site to see Sally so naturally respond to the KA100 promotion. She obviously is rock solid on her fundamentals learned competing in the LO206 class. It cared over in her debut in karting’s most competitive class. She’s marvelous to watch in a two-stroke. It’s the perfect time for her to move up.”
As a rookie in 2020, Mott finished second in the GHRS LO206 championship standings for the season. Her on-track results were impressive.
