National big corporate media tends to report and focus on the total number of apprehensions of United States illegal border crossings. The vast majority of illegal border crossings obviously occur on the international border with Mexico.
The vast majority of illegal border crossings of the international border with Mexico occur through the five border regions of Texas. For years, RagingElephantsRadio.com has repeatedly reported on the invasion numbers for Texas that have been frightening.
In just days, the border apprehension numbers for the month of March are expected to be reported. Big media pundits, and actual border enforcement officials, are predicting that total reported apprehensions will exceed 100,000. The real questions will be: how many will have crossed illegally into Texas?
So far, for fiscal year2019, 180,988 total apprehensions have been reported by United States Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These are the apprehension numbers for just the five border regions of Texas: Big Bend, Del Rio, El Paso, Laredo, and Rio Grande Valley (RGV).
The current apprehension numbers cover the time period of October 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019. The first five months of the fiscal year is producing an average of 36,198 apprehensions per month on the Texas border. If this pace is maintained, Texans could expect total apprehensions in the state for FY2019 could reach or exceed 434,000.
To get closer to the actual number of illegal border crossings at any point in time for Texas, what border patrol calls “got-aways” must be considered. In a June 27, 2018 interview on Fox News, Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council said, “We don’t know exactly the number that get by. But, we do have an estimation. Border patrol agents go out and we count what we call ‘got-aways’. Unfortunately, if you look at it, border patrol agents will tell you that we’re probably 50 to 60 percent effective. So, between 40 and 50 percent of those people that cross the border illegally are getting away from us. So, we arrest 50,000, but 50,000 are getting by.”
This 2017 Washington Post article on DHS toughening its approach, also refers to “got-aways”.
Considering “got-aways” the 180,988 total apprehensions of illegal invaders in Texas so far this fiscal year must me elevated to an estimated 361,976. Considering “got-aways”, the estimated number of illegal border crossings into Texas for fiscal year 2018 exceeded 500,000. At the current five-month pace of apprehensions for fiscal year 2019, Texas is tracking to endure a tsunami of invaders from south of the border at a number approximating 800,000+.
