RERsports — TEAM MOTT [PRESS RELEASE] –– SALLY MOTT STEPS UP TO FASTER KA100 CLASS AT GCKI THIS WEEKEND (VIDEO)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 10, 2021
Pro kart racer Sally Mott is graduating to the faster KA100 class this weekend for the Greater Houston Racing Series (GHRS). Round 5 of the GHRS, Houston’s city karting championship, will be held at Gulf Coast Karters, Inc. in Katy, Texas on Sunday, April 11, 2021.
Last year as a rookie, Mott competed in the entry-level LO206 class. The then 15-year-old from Victoria, Texas finished 2nd overall in the GHRS. 2020 resulted in Mott racking up:
- 3 Main race wins
- 8 total race wins
- 9 Main race podiums
- 24 top five finishes
- 14 top three qualifying
The LO206 pro racing kart has a top speed of 60 mph. By taking a step up the karting ladder, Mott will now be piloting the KA100 with a top speed of 80 mph.
The ultimate decision by Team Mott Principal and CEO, Robby Mott, to promote his daughter was abrupt but without hesitation. It was crystal clear to the former national pro karting champion that his daughter was amazingly comfortable in the more-powerful kart after the first testing session where she was clocking competitive times, immediately.
What are the top three reasons that Mott wanted to make the jump? “It’s the most popular class, there’s too much bashing in LO206, and I want to go faster!”
Mott is now 16 years old and a sophomore at East Victoria High School.
